Editorial policy: how our content is created
Health insurance and retirement provision involve a lot of money over long periods. That is why clear rules apply to our content.
Our sources
We take figures and rules preferably from primary sources: statutes (gesetze-im-internet.de), the Federal Law Gazette, federal ministries (BMG, BMAS, BMF), the German Pension Insurance, the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds, the Association of Private Health Insurers and published insurer documents. We also use independent tests and consumer organisations. Every source is linked at the end of the article.
Official, draft or forecast?
Many values for 2027 are not yet final. We therefore always state whether a value is official (in force), a draft (e.g. cabinet decision, Bundesrat approval pending) or a forecast or example calculation. We disclose the assumptions of our own calculations.
Who creates the content
The content is created by the editorial team of German-PKV.de. Every figure is checked against the stated source before publication. The “Updated” date shows the latest review. Our guides and calculators provide general information and do not replace individual advice.
Transparency
German-PKV.de is an information and calculator portal, not an insurance broker. On request, we forward enquiries to specialised experts from our partner network who are legally authorised to advise. The service is free of charge for you. Our guides are not advertising for individual insurers.
